Research security is a priority — but implementation remains a challenge
That was the clear takeaway when P-Secure joined a panel debate on research security in the Nordic region at Almedalsveckan on Gotland.

Both PET and Säpo are unambiguous: the threat to Nordic research environments is real and growing. Yet translating that into concrete practice is difficult.
Part of the challenge is that the research chain extends well beyond the individual organisation. It includes visiting researchers, partners, and suppliers — and research doesn’t only happen at universities. R&D environments and startups are a significant part of the picture, but often sit outside established security frameworks.
The panel brought together SRS Security, Ideon Research Park, the Swedish representative to the NATO-STO HFM panel, and Lund University — and us.
This is a conversation that needs to happen — not once, but continuously.
Research security isn’t only about classified knowledge. It’s about protecting open knowledge societies, and that requires collaboration across borders, sectors, and disciplines.
Thank you to all participants for a sharp and necessary debate.
