With the new Act on enhanced preparedness in the energy sector, which came into force on 6 March 2025, and the related ordinance, introduce stricter requirements for the control of employees, suppliers and consultants in the energy sector.
According to the decree, companies must: conduct ID and resume checks yourself by relevant persons before security clearance can be applied for. This applies to people who need access to critical functions or sensitive information.

Companies in the energy sector will be subject to audit requirements from the authorities, probably the Danish Energy Agency, and must be able to document correct processes.
It is important to note that ID and CV checks are a comprehensive process that requires documentation that must be presented during an audit. At the same time, companies must ensure that the processing of personal data is in accordance with the GDPR regulations, including requirements for deletion, logging and storage.
Companies in the energy sector should therefore prepare now to implement the necessary procedures and systems to meet the new requirements.

Due to the short deadline before the "Act on Strengthened Emergency Preparedness in the Energy Sector" comes into force, we at Fjernvarme Fyn have already chosen to begin work on identifying which functions need to be background checked in collaboration with P-Secure.
